A woman has revealed a ‘life hack’ for how to cool your home in a heatwave and TikTok users are amazed.

Rosaline Webb, from West Yorkshire, has shared her simple tips for keeping temperatures down at home on TikTok.

The 28-year-old silversmith revealed if you’ve opened all your windows in an attempt to cool your home down during these blistering summer temperatures, you might want to think again.

With temperatures set to reach highs of 36 degrees in the coming week Rosaline said the trick is not to open all your windows – but only to open specific ones.

Rosaline wrote in the video’s caption: ‘Struggling in a heatwave? This life hack will help.’

Rosaline, who runs a jewellery business called Little Red Snail, first heard the tip on BBC Radio 2 some years ago.

She has been using it to keep her and her parents, who she lives with, cool ever since.

Rosaline said: ‘It does truly work, regardless of what people say.

‘I should also point out that the side of my house that faces north receives no direct sunlight whatsoever because of the surrounding houses, so on that side, the house is always cooler.’

A women gave a quirky alternative to keep the heat out by using silver car window reflectors. 

She admitted it’s ‘not pretty’ but it ‘works a treat’ before mentioned to also close curtains and windows before 12pm.
