A group of work friends have won $592,000 in the Lotto after spending 20 years vying for the big cash prize.

The syndicate bought their winning ticket from The Lucky Charm in Baldivis, south of Perth, and took home the Saturday Lotto division one prize.

‘I retired yesterday, effective immediately,’ one of the winners said, Weekend Kwinana Courier reported.

The group were ready to give up on their hopes of victory before they pocketed the six figures.

‘We actually said this was going to be the last round,’ one of the winners said.

‘We said if we weren’t going to win after 20 years, we were never going to win.’

A Lotterywest membership online player also took home almost $25,000 by matching the numbers to a Super66 prize.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said WA is now home to 71 Division One winners this year.

That could grow again with this weekend’s Million-Yeah Saturday.

‘Million-Yeah Saturday, will give players the chance to be one of up to 10 millionaires,’ Ms Compagnone said.

‘If there are up to ten Division One winners, we’ll boost their prize, so they take home at least $1 million each and if there are more than ten winners, the $10 million prize pool will be shared between them.’
