Zinedine Zidane admits he is ‘worried’ about Real Madrid’s injury crisis after Dani Carvajal becomes the latest Los Blancos star to be sidelined in victory over Valencia

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has admitted he is ‘worried’ about the club’s current injury crisis.

Several key players have been sidelined for the reigning La Liga champions, with right-back Dani Carvajal the latest to suffer a blow in their 2-0 victory over Valencia on Sunday.

The Spaniard pulled up during the first half at the Bernabeu after being struck by the ball just moments before.

Carvajal will now join the wounded Eden Hazard, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Rodrygo, Federico Valverde and Eder Militao as Los Blancos injury fears continue with their rivals Atletico in the driving seat for the LaLiga title.

‘I don’t understand. There are a lot of injuries, I’m worried. When I lose a player, as a coach it bothers me. It’s a relapse,’ Zidane told press after the win.

‘I’m sorry for Carva. He played 25 minutes very well and I’m upset because he’s very important to us.

‘But I can’t explain the reasoning [behind the injury problems] to you. As a coach, having injuries is the worst. They’ve come back to hurt us again.

‘I only hope that [Carvajal’s injury] is a small one. We’ll see what the injury is and for how long he’ll be out for.’

Hazard, who has struggled to find his Chelsea form since joining the Spanish giants, has been out of action with a muscle injury but is set to begin training again in the next seven days.

More worryingly, club captain Ramos last featured against Osasuna on January 9 and could be out until April for Real while Marcelo is expected to be out until March.

Midfielder Toni Kroos shares Zidane’s concern, adding: ”We’re very worried about all the injuries and we don’t know if winning all the remaining games will be enough to win the league, but we’ll give our all.’
