Zlatan Ibrahimovic is eager to commit his future to AC Milan and sign a new deal that will see him play until he’s FORTY as the veteran superstar claims a day without his team-mates is ‘like one without my children’
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has voiced his eagerness to stay at AC Milan past the end of the current season.
The 39-year-old veteran returned to the Italian side back in January 2020 on a free short-term deal until the end of the campaign and later extended his stay at the San Siro for another year.
Ibrahimovic revealed that he remains in the dark over a new deal with the Serie A side but wants to commit his future to the club, explaining that a day without his Milan team-mates is ‘like one without his children’.

He told Rai Play: ‘I don’t know, let’s see. If Paolo [Maldini] wants, I am up for it.
‘I wanted to be there [for the Verona game], because I feel too much inside and I missed the team too much.
‘When I spend a day without them, it’s like one without my children.’
The striker has been mightily impressive for AC Milan this season with 16 goals in 21 league games, having missed several fixtures due to injury.
He has also been a key role in their Europe League run and added that he enjoys his role in the dressing room. ‘At Milan, I have many responsibilities, and I feel like a leader,’ he explained.

‘This team is the only team where I am excited, I want to give a lot and teach a lot to be a guide, because when they look at me they expect something from me.’
Despite a strong start to the Serie A season that saw them leading the standings for the first half, AC Milan have dropped behind their fierce rivals Inter back on February 14.
Ibrahimovic’s side then suffered a devastating defeat to the Nezzaurri just a week later in the Derby della Madonnina to open up a wider gap at the summit.
Despite Inter having a more favourable run in to the end of the campaign, the Swede remains hopeful that his side can close the gap and win Serie A.
‘There are still many matches, everything is possible,’ he said.
‘They only have one match a week and have more time to recover. My job is to win trophies, and I came to Milan to win.’

Ibrahimovic is not only making bold claims at club level, but there are also reports of him coming out of international retirement.
FotbollDirekt have claimed that Ibrahimovic is poised to make a sensational comeback to the Sweden national team, and the maverick striker is set to be called up to Janne Andersson’s squad on March 16.
The Milan star previously expressed an interest in playing for his country at the 2018 World Cup, however last year he revealed he wasn’t considering returning to his national team.
Ibrahimovic could feature in World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Kosovo, as well as the friendly against Estonia at the end of March.
