A ‘genius’ hack to avoid huge parking fees – Perth

REVEALED: A ‘genius’ hack to avoid huge parking fees – and it works in nearly every major car park

  • Man posts ‘genius’ hack to avoid paying parking fees or Uber fares to TikTok
  • He shared video showing him parking for two days but claiming lost ticket
  • Lost ticket incurs $50 fee – less than $122 Uber trip home or $115 parking cost

A man has posted his ‘genius’ hack to avoiding paying exorbitant parking fees and large Uber fares while on a night out.

TikTok user JackBlarred posted the clip to their account, showing a ride sharing trip to and from Perth‘s CBD from his home costing $122 for the round trip, while a parking ticket would set him back $115.

When paying for the parking ticket he instead told the machine he’d lost his ticket, which incurs a $50 fee – a saving of $72 had he caught an Uber and $65 if he’d paid for parking.

‘When you want to go on a decent Sunday sesh but cbf paying loads for an Uber,’ he captioned the video.

The TikTok shows the main looking to book an Uber from his house in the Western Australia capital and head into the city.

Even without a surge the price would set him back around $60 each way, so he decides to drive and park nearby.

Upon returning to his car two days later he enters his card to see a $115 total for using the garage.

Cleverly he instead presses the 'lost ticket' button on the machine, which incurs a flat fee of $50 to re-produce a ticket, regardless of how long the car has been parked

The man’s hack was questioned online however, asking how the man got home after his night out.

‘This has all kinds of questions attached –  how did you get home? How did you get back to your car? And were there costs involved?’ one person asked.

The man replied his partner picked him up and dropped him home, seeming to undermine the hack.

‘So you saved about $10 in the end,’ another replied after the man could have caught an Uber in for $60 and wouldn’t have had to come back in the next day.
