Call it a case of puppy love for Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.
The celeb couple took to social media Sunday to reveal a new member of the household to kick off 2020: A puppy named Petey they learned of through friend Ellen DeGeneres‘s animal rescue efforts.
The star, 34, took to Instagram with images and clips of her family with their new pet, who she called ‘another little heart in this house to love.’
The latest: Chrissy Teigen, 34, and John Legend, 41, took to social media Sunday to reveal they’ve adopted a puppy named Petey. The couple brought daughter Luna, three, and Chrissy’s mom Vilailuck Teigen to the adoption center
The Utah-born stunner shared a clip of the Grammy-winning artist and their daughter Luna, three, playing with the pup, who the famous pair named after the ill-fated parakeet in the 1994 Jim Carrey movie Dumb and Dumber.
In it, Luna approached her father and called him by his first name, which caught the vocalist off-guard.
‘John, would you like to hold her?’ Luna told her father, who responded, ‘I’m not John, I’m your dad.’
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, who’s also mom to son Miles, one, with Legend, said in a tweet: ‘If he’s anything like his dad, he will be the biggest caramel Gumby ever seen.’

Teigen, via Instagram Stories, thanked both Degeneres and The Wagmor Pet Hotel & Spa for their efforts in bringing the beloved pooch into the family’s orbit.
‘Welcome to the family, petey! thank you @theellenshow and @wagmorpets for making us aware of this adorable little rescue family,’ Teigen said. ‘This little guy grabbed our heart first and will hold onto it forever!’
Wagmor had come across male and female dogs that had eight puppies, which DeGeneres publicized via her Instagram account, leading to Teigen and Legend’s adoption of the puppy.

The animal organization posted a shot of the couple, with Luna and Chrissy’s mom, posing with Petey.
‘The first of the poodle puppies is adopted! We are not taking applications just yet!’ it said. ‘But @chrissyteigen @johnlegend and their adorable family will be the perfect home!!’
They continued: ‘Thank you @theellenshow for making this love connection. Rescue dogs are the best dogs!! So happy this family of puppies will never be locked in a cage again.’
