David Beckham works up a sweat as he tries his hand at ‘new sport’ paddle tennis in Miami… while son Cruz lifts weights at a local gym
It was very much a case of like father like son on Wednesday as David and Cruz Beckham developed their fitness during separate workouts.
The family are currently in Florida while David, 45, prepares for the new MLS season with soccer franchise Inter Miami CF, the club he launched to much fanfare in 2018.
But the former Manchester United and England star traded the football for a racket of sorts while trying his hand at paddle tennis on an outdoor court.
Here we go: David Beckham tried his hand at paddle tennis during his latest appearance in Miami on Wednesday
Let’s get physical: Meanwhile the retired footballer’s youngest son Cruz, 16, was putting in the hard yards at a local gym as he attempted to bulk up his slender physique
Captioning a short video of himself in action, he wrote: ‘Found a new sport, back is gonna hurt in the morning but who cares.’
Despite his modest claim David appeared to be something of a natural while effortlessly trying his hand at the game – which is commonly played across the United States and Canada.

Appropriate attire: The retired footballer wore an orange T-shirt and black shorts as he practiced his serve
Taking to Instagram, the teenager filmed himself doing chest presses and working with resistance bands during a rigorous exercise session.
Sporting a white gym vest, shorts and a jaunty baseball cap, Cruz – an aspiring musician – later updated fans on his physical progress by sharing a selfie.
David has been a busy man of late, having reportedly signed a seven-figure deal with Disney+ for a TV series inspired by his incredible football career.

That’s it: While David played paddle tennis, son Cruz worked on his upper body strength by doing some chest presses
No pain no gain: The teenager also used resistance bands while working out with a friend on Wednesday
The former England captain will mentor a group of inner-city youngsters from an east London team who grew up in similar circumstances to him.
Away from football he has spent lockdown focusing on his work with Haig Club – a single grain, no-age-statement Scotch whisky, which was launched by music mogul Simon Fuller back in 2014.
David said of his new Haig Club Mediterranean Orange: ‘The Med is one of my favourite European destinations and we wanted to bring a fresh flavour to the brand that’s unexpected.
‘This is a very natural step for Haig Club to explore new flavours and something we’ve been working on for a long time.’
