Gabrielle Union tweets in support of bus driver who refused to transport arrested protesters… after bus was commandeered by police: ‘Resist!’

Gabrielle Union has refused to stay silent regarding the senseless killing of civilian George Floyd who died earlier this week at the hands of police in Minneapolis.

And on Friday, the 47-year-old actress tweeted her support for one New York City MTA worker who refused to get behind the wheel after the NYPD commandeered his bus to transport arrested protesters.

‘Yessssssssss!!!! Resist!!!,’ wrote Union, who also re-shared the now viral footage taken outside Barclays Center in New York on Thursday.

Resist: On Friday, Gabrielle Union tweeted her support for one New York City MTA worker who refused to get behind the wheel after the NYPD commandeered his bus to transport arrested protesters

In the 22-second clip, protesters surrounded a city bus and cheered as the bus driver ‘refused to drive it.’

ATU Local 1005 – the union the driver belongs to – released a statement shortly after the incident to voice their support of protesters.

‘We say “NOT ONE MORE” execution of a black life by the hands of the police. NOT ONE MORE! JUSTICE FOR GEORGE FLOYD,’ read one line.

Union also used her Twitter platform to call out White House reporter for The Associated Press, Jill Colvin, for downplaying the actions of Officer Derek Chauvin, who is accused of killing Floyd.

In Colvin’s tweet, she wrote: ‘MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota authorities: Police officer who knelt on George Floyd has been arrested.’

Union – and many others – took issue with Colvin’s passive language instead of depicting the reality of Chauvin’s deadly force head on.

‘Jill. Jill. You use words for a living. You know damn well this ain’t it. He slowly, ever so slowly, murdered George Floyd, who he had worked with, all while caught on video as the public pleaded for his life,’ wrote Gabrielle.

Chauvin was taken into custody Friday and charged with third-degree murder, officials said.

In the horrifying video footage, Floyd is seen saying that he can not breathe as the officer kneeled on his neck.

Eventually he went silent and limp, and he was later declared dead.

Protests swelled after federal authorities said Thursday that they were making the case a top priority but announced no arrests at that time.

The death of 46-year-old Floyd has sparked days of sometimes violent demonstrations in Minneapolis and other US cities over police brutality against African-Americans.
