Gunman killed and multiple injuries reported after shooting at Naval Air Station Pensacola

BREAKING NEWS: Gunman among two killed and at least 11 injured after shooting at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida – just two days after Pearl Harbor attack left three dead

  • Shooting took place on base early Friday morning, sparking a lockdown 
  • Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Naval Air Station and confronted the gunman, resulting in his death 
  • US Navy confirmed additional fatality on base in Pensacola 
  • Two nearby hospitals have received 11 patients as a result of the shooting 

A shooting at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida early this morning left one person dead and several others injured before the gunman was killed by law enforcement officers.  

A spokesperson for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office told Pensacola News Journal that shots have been fired on base early Friday morning.

Just before 8am, the sheriff’s office announced the shooter has been shot and killed by deputies.

The US Navy said in a tweet that an additional fatality has been confirmed as a result of the shooting.  

A spokesperson at the nearby Baptist Hospital said the hospital has received five patients from the base.  

The station posted a message on its official Facebook page earlier saying both gates at the site are ‘currently secured.’ 

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said in a tweet his office is monitoring the situation in Pensacola and is offering full support to law enforcement.
