Marcia Hines and The Veronicas will appear on The Voice as guest mentors

Bringing in the reinforcements! Marcia Hines and The Veronicas will appear on The Voice as guest mentors after lockdown restrictions made it impossible for Boy George and Kelly Rowland to return to Australia

The Voice Australia will introduce two new guest mentors this year, with filming of the hit reality series impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a report by The Sydney Morning Herald on Monday, Marcia Hines and The Veronicas will be added as mentors for this year’s series.

It comes as regular Voice coaches Boy George and Kelly Rowland are unable to return to Australia from their homes in London and Los Angeles respectively, with travel restrictions still in place.

George, 58, and Kelly will still appear in the series, and have been coaching their teams remotely via FaceTime and satellite.

The Voice’s other two coaches, Guy Sebastian and Delta Goodrem, haven’t been impacted, with both based in Australia.

But with George and Kelly, 39, currently overseas, Marcia and The Veronicas will step in and help their teams on the ground.

The Veronicas’ Jess and Lisa Origliasso will mentor Team George, while Marcia, 66, will mentor Kelly’s contestants.

Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald, George confessed coaching remotely would be an adjustment, but he was willing to put his trust in twins Jess and Lisa, both 35.

‘We’re just going to try to make it work. I’ll still be able to enjoy the performances, still give my advice in terms of mentoring,’ he said.

‘And I’m going to entrust The Veronicas to carry that message. At the end of the day, we’re going to do everything to make it as fun and as entertaining as possible.’

The addition of guest mentors won’t be the only changes fans can expect to see on the show.

According to The Voice’s executive producer, Leigh Aramberri, the show’s set had to be completely rebuilt midway through filming to adhere to social distancing restrictions.
