Meghan King Edmonds doesn’t want the ‘baggage’ of dating a man with kids amid ongoing divorce drama

She’s remained candid about life as of late amid an ongoing divorce from her husband. 

And despite being recently single, Meghan King Edmonds revealed that she’s not interested in dating a man with children.

The 35-year-old blogger sat down for a chat with Bachelor star Nick Viall and admitted that she’s not so interested in the ‘baggage’ that comes along with other people’s children.

‘I know this sounds hypocritical, I’m not really into dating a guy with kids,’ Edmonds told Nick on Viall Files Episode 86. ‘I love kids and I loved being a stepmom, but it’s a lot of baggage.’

She tried to backstep on her choice of vocabulary words and clarified that there’s a lot of work involved with raising kids. 

‘I hate to call kids baggage, but kids are a lifelong commitment and you didn’t have any input into creating this child and it’s hard,’ she said. ‘I’ve been a stepmom it’s difficult.’

Meghan shares three children with her estranged husband Jim: twins Hart and Hayes, and daughter Aspen. He also as four children from previous relationships.

‘If I were to go into that relationship and be a stepmom, it’s hard, I know it’s hard,’ she said. ‘But on the flipside a man with children knows what I’m going through because he has kids.’ 

The Real Housewives of Orange County star split with her husband of five years in October amid cheating allegations involving a former nanny. 

Jim’s rep confirmed to Us Weekly that the former baseball player wasn’t too pleased with her choice of words. 

‘I can’t help but wonder how Jim’s four children feel about being called baggage,’ his rep said on Thursday after her interview.

And Meghan’s maintaining her cool despite the drama surrounding her family, with dating on the back-burner while she rebuilds her career.

‘I’m trying to work on my career,’ Meghan said. ‘I’m trying to focus on my kids and my job and transition through this energetically weird space in my life. As far as my love life, I am not seeking it out, but I wouldn’t say no if it hit me. I’m trying to go with the flow and be in the moment.’  

Jim recently embarked on a new relationship with former Playboy model Kortnie O’Connor, the woman who reportedly had a threesome with the couple when they were still together.
