Strictly’s Karen Hauer reveals she keeps fit by ‘carrying around’ her celebrity partners

She’s the Strictly Come Dancing professional who regularly showcases her athletic physique on social media.

And Karen Hauer revealed the secret behind her incredible shape is having to ‘carry around’ her male celebrity partners she’s paired with on the BBC dance show.

The Venezuelan beauty, 38, who displayed her washboard abs in a new Instagram snap on Saturday, added that training her partners ‘becomes a whole workout in itself.’

Ripped: Karen Hauer revealed the secret behind her incredible shape is having to ‘carry around’ her male celebrity partners she’s paired with on the BBC dance show

During her eight years on Strictly, she has trained and danced with celebrity partners including Mark Wright, Nicky Byrne, Jeremy Vine and Chris Ramsey.

And Karen told how she always ends up losing weight during training as she’s had to work extremely hard to whip her partners into shape.

She told The Sun: ‘When I start Strictly I always lose a lot of weight. I am constantly on my feet and I am sweating.

‘Plus at the start I have the weight of a whole other person’s body that I am having to carry around as I teach them what they’re doing. Training them becomes a whole workout in itself and it keeps me so fit.’

And Karen says that it’s not just intensive dance training that gives her that chiseled six pack, but genetics too as she claims she got her physique ‘from my momma.’

While she eats carefully too, the star admits she’s not adverse to a treat of cheeseburgers, pizza and doughnuts.

The professional dancer also told how she has more body confidence now than she did in her twenties.

She added: ‘I feel so much better now at 38 than I did at 28. I feel healthier than I did when I was younger.’

She explained that in her earlier years she didn’t watch what she ate, with her mind solely focused on dance.

The star explained that when she hit her thirties, her body changed and she learned to ‘adjust’.

She added that it can be ‘hard’ at times within an industry that shows everyone what the ‘perfect body is’, but Karen insisted ‘there’s no such thing’.

Instead, Karen said that everyone’s own body they have right now is the ‘perfect’ one.

Meanwhile, Karen recently told she does her best to maintain a full, active lifestyle while remaining in lockdown with her new partner, opera singer David Webb, and their pets.

With filming and touring commitments have been temporarily curtailed amid the coronavirus pandemic, Karen told how she’s making the most of her time at home and is remaining ‘positive’.

She told the Daily Mirror: ‘I never get to have that much time at home because of my work schedule, so spending time with David and our three dogs has been quite a good thing. I’m staying busy, staying positive and taking it day by day. I clean every day – I’ve never swept so much in my life!’

The Latin ballroom specialist also finds time to work out on a daily basis, and has put her former life as a New York based personal trainer to good use by developing a series of workout videos designed to motivate and inspire her social media following.

‘David does all the cooking and we are getting to all those jobs we never really had time for,’ she explained. ‘But one of the main things that we’re trying to do is exercise and stick to a plan that fulfills us physically and mentally.’
