Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane weather: Weekend of rain about to strike

Weekend of rain about to strike with winter just around the corner: Here’s how the weather is looking in your city

  • Showers will sit over the east coast
  • A total solar eclipse will be visible in WA

Major cities along the east coast are set to see a drizzly weekend while Western Australia enjoys sunny weather.

Sydney is set to see another seven days of showers, with minimum temperatures hanging around 15C as the cold weather begins to set in ahead of winter.

The weather will be even colder in Canberra, with minimums consistently below 10C heading into next week but coupled with mostly sunny conditions.

Showers are forecast from Friday in Brisbane, and the wet weather is expected to stay through to late next week.

Slightly better conditions are set to reach Melbourne where the weekend will be cloudy but the only forecast rain is for Friday with less than 1mm expected to fall.

Perth is set to stay sunny through to next week.

Hobart is expected to see cloudy skies over the weekend following a burst of wintery weather on Wednesday that saw snow fall about 900m around Tasmania.

‘A mid-autumn cold front swept across Tasmania on Wednesday morning, bringing showers and a surge of cold air from the Southern Ocean,’ explained a spokesperson for Weatherzone.

Cloudy conditions are forecast over Adelaide on Friday before the skies clear for a sunny weekend with maximum temperatures around the mid-20Cs.

Darwin is set to see showers and a possible storm on Friday before sunny weather takes over for Saturday and Sunday.
