Tax campaigners claim Netflix should be paying corporation tax after hitting £1bn in revenues in the UK

Tax campaigners have claimed Netflix should be paying corporation tax after hitting £1 billion in revenues in the UK.

Analysis by think tank TaxWatch has suggested Netflix could be making as much as £68.5m in profits from its 11.5m UK subscribers.

The sum would give rise to a tax liability of £13m if the profits were declared in the UK. But because current laws allow it to book profits through its Dutch parent, Netflix International, it is not required to pay corporation tax in the UK.

A Netflix spokesman said: ‘We believe that international taxation needs reform. In the meantime, we comply with the rules in every country where we operate.
