An American couple who moved to Oxford have revealed the various reasons they skipped out on living in London

Helena and Michael Sula live a life filled with adventure, and are constantly packing up their things and finding a new place to call home. 

Most recently, the lovebirds relocated from Dallas, Texas, to Oxford, United Kingdom, and have been documenting their journey on their TikTok to their more than 274,000 followers.

And while London is the capital of England, the couple opted for the less populated city because they wanted to live ‘somewhere smaller’ and the soaring cost of living

Couple says no to the ‘big city’: Texans reveal why they didn’t want to live in London

In a clip, which has so far amassed more than 30,000 views, Helena revealed why she and her husband decided not to relocate to London. 

She captioned the video: ‘I love London, I just knew it wasn’t for me.’ 

‘London was just named the best city in the world, here’s why we chose not to live there,’ the travel blogger said at the beginning of the clip. 

She began by noting that the couple wanted to live somewhere smaller. 

London has a population of 9,648,000 while Oxford has a population of 162,222, according to the World Population Review

Helena also raved about the transportation in Oxford, which is about one hour away from London.

‘Oxford is also bike-able so we can get everywhere we need to go on a bike,’ she said while showing a clip of the couple biking through the county. 

Helena noted that London’s public transportation was crowded and the ‘overall cleanliness is not great.’

She explained: ‘London is expensive. Housing prices are much higher, especially if you want a garden like we did with our two dogs.’ 

At the end of the clip, she said: ‘I think London is incredible, which is why I chose to move to Oxford, a city close to London. It’s just not for me.’
