‘It is not exactly as they planned’: Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell forced to have their honeymoon at Australia Zoo after tying the knot there last month
Bindi Irwin wed partner Chandler Powell during a secret ceremony at Australia Zoo on March 25.
And on Monday, Robert Irwin revealed the newlyweds are celebrating their honeymoon at the sprawling premises during the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking to the Today show, the 16-year-old proud younger brother of Bindi explained: ‘It is not the honeymoon they planned. They’re honeymooning at Australia Zoo.’

Robert went on to say that the couple are helping out wherever they can.
While the Australian wildlife park remains closed to the public, it hosts over 1200 animals that still need to be taken care of.
Speaking about his duties of walking Bindi down the aisle, Robert said he was the ‘most emotional he’s ever been’ and said the special day was the ‘highlight of his life’.

‘I’ve always felt so lucky, being so close to Bindi, I’ve had the best sister in the entire world. She has been there for me no matter what,’ he told the breakfast show.
Meanwhile, Terri, 55, told the the morning show that she believed her late husband, Steve Irwin, who tragically died from a stingray barb to the heart in 2006, was there in spirit.
She said: ‘I think during these really difficult times, that’s what’s so important to focus on, is the people that we love, those in our lives and honouring that love really never dies.’

Terri continued: ‘I think we all felt that Steve was watching over us and you feel him every day here.’
‘It’s really comforting. It’s nice to be able to carry on and continue Steve’s mission is so important.’
Bindi and Chandler made the ‘difficult decision’ to host their wedding at Australia Zoo on March 25 without guests amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The couple got engaged at Australia Zoo in Queensland in July last year, on what was her 21st birthday. They began dating in 2015.
