Married At First Sight’s Steve Burley’s famous ex-girlfriend revealed ahead of his debut

Steve Burley is about to find love on Married At First Sight, but the groom-to-be has a famous former flame.  

In an interview with TV Week, the 51-year-old barber shop owner revealed that he was previously engaged to MasterChef Australia winner Diana Chan, 32, and was left heartbroken when they split.

‘We were very close. I met Diana in Melbourne one evening and we just hit it off. Our relationship took off from there,’ he said.

Steve went on to say that Diana, who he dated for five years, helped him when he battled testicular cancer in 2012 and ‘supported me at every oncology appointment and the operation.’

He continued:’If it wasn’t for her I probably wouldn’t be here today…she’s an absolute deadset sweetheart.’

He admitted that his cancer diagnosis ‘changed me as an individual’ and the breakup left him heartbroken.

‘Diana had her reasons [to leave the relationship],’ he said.’Maybe we started to grow apart a little bit [but] it did break my heart and it took me a fair while to get over it.’

Steve is set to marry Mishel Karen 48, in a non-legal binding ceremony on Married At First Sight, on Monday.

In a trailer released last month, Mishel was shown running from her ‘husband’ after her family discovered his shocking past. 

‘I liked him, but then he dropped a bit of a bombshell…’ said Mishel’s daughter, Eva, before whispering that the groom had previously ‘cheated’ on an ex-partner.

‘Why would he tell you that? Get me out of here! Once a cheater, always a cheater!’ Mishel said while running past a cameraman.

She was then followed by her son, Sam and other family members as she dashed out of the reception, but it appears that she later reunited with Steve at their hotel.

Mishel had earlier told the Married At First Sight experts she had been cheated on by seven out of the eight men she had ever dated.
