Natalie Imbruglia gets mixed reviews for her rendition of the Australian National Anthem at Melbourne Cup:  ‘Get someone who can sing!’

Natalie Imbruglia was front and centre at Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday. 

The Australian-British pop star put in a strong performance of the Australian National Anthem, Advance Australia Fair, for crowds at Flemington Racecourse. 

The 48-year-old’s take on the iconic song wasn’t to everyone’s taste, with some viewers sharing their thoughts on social media. 

‘Natalie Imbruglia? Seriously I rest my case. These people are sooo not even relevant in 2023’ wrote one person on X, formerly known as Twitter.

‘Guaranteed these people will be headlining at the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games…’ they added. 

‘What a terrible rendition – one day they will get someone who can sing!’ complained someone else. 

‘Oh now I remember why Natalie Imbruglia was a one hit wonder’ posted one more person. 

‘Not sure how I feel about that rendition of the national anthem by Natalie Imbruglia. You could say I’m torn’ quipped another. 

One confused viewer commented: ‘That literally looked nothing like Natalie Imbruglia’. 

Others were delighted with the performance, with a fan sharing: ‘Natalie Imbruglia… all time great’. 

Natalie was looking fantastic on the day, donning a fitted black dress with feathered sleeves and a glittering headband.

She previously told Daily Mail Australia the secret behind her amazing figure and incredibly youthful complexion is ‘taking care of herself’ and then ‘eating or drinking whatever she wants on holidays’. 

‘Sleep is probably the best thing,’ she explained.

‘I go on lots of little detox holidays and do take care of myself, and then I eat what I want and have a drink, so I just enjoy life,’ she added.
