The Good Morning America host took to Instagram Monday with a clip from the screening, writing, ‘Oh what a night! Special screening of my upcoming Lifetime movie Stolen By My Mother: The Kamiyah Mobley Story.’

The broadcasting veteran said she was ‘grateful to the entire talented cast and crew’ of the film, adding that Nash will appear on Good Morning America Tuesday.

It’s the first in Robin Roberts Presents, a series of projects from the Tuskegee, Alabama native that will include dramatizations of true stories, along with an adjacent Roberts doc on the same topic.

In the film, Nash plays South Carolina woman Gloria Williams who kidnapped a newborn Kamiyah Mobley in July of 1998 from a Florida hospital where her mother Shanara Mobley (played by Ta’Rhonda Jones) was recovering.

Williams renamed the child Alexis and raised her, but the truth would eventually bubble to the surface. (Kamiyah is portrayed by Rayven Symone Ferrell in the film.)

‘It was a story that really resonated with our audience, and I was just so impressed with how Kamiyah was handling everything,’ Roberts told the Boston Herald Sunday about the case. ‘I could not imagine finding out, at 18, that the person who raised you was not really your mother.’

Roberts explained to the newspaper about the strong reaction the story received, and how it resonated with her.

‘The way she was navigating both families, and the response we were getting from our GMA audience, made me want to know more about it,’ Roberts said. ‘And I’m glad that we’re doing a companion documentary, because you want to know how she’s doing now.’

Roberts opened up how she’s warming up to being an executive producer, and the way it differs from her job as an anchor.

‘I’m a journalist, and storytelling is storytelling,’ she said. ‘It’s been challenging, because I’m used to the world I’ve been in, where I go in and we’re live for two hours.

‘There’s an immediacy to what I do day-in and day-out, but on the other hand, not with this. You have to be patient.’

Roberts said that while there’s a bit of ‘artistic license’ in the Lifetime doc, the documentary presents the specifics in the case.

‘We had to give people the absolute facts,’ she said, but I’m getting to stretch another muscle that I don’t usually use at GMA, so it’s been a great complement.’
